An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Senior Finance Team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals as one of the three Heads of Management Accounting Teams. This role will play a pivotal role in leading a large finance team and providing senior finance support to three clinical directorates.
As part of this role you will report to the Deputy CFO and be responsible for the direct finance support to three directorates, whilst also leading the team that supports a total of nine clinical and corporate areas. You will be responsible for the financial planning and reporting for these directorates, as well as supporting them with their CIP delivery and financial recovery.
This role forms a crucial part of the wider senior finance team at the Trust, and will help to drive forward the change agenda agreed as part of the annual department objectives.
Main duties of the job
The overarching aim of this role is lead one of three Financial Management teams to provide financial direction and guidance to three Clinical Care Groups and a number of Corporate Directorates, and ensure rigorous financial control is implemented and maintained. The post-holder will promote the highest standards of financial management and governance.
The post-holder will also specifically provide financial direction and guidance to one Care Group and a number of Corporate Directorates.
The post-holder will be a vital and integral member of each Directorate's Executive Management Team within the Care Group they support. They will provide strategic financial and business planning advice to these teams and to Executive Directors. The post holder operates as part of the core Care Group teams, working closely with the Operations Director (as the Accountable Officer) and Nurse Director and contributing to, and influencing major strategic and operational decisions.
Each post holder is responsible for managing their Team to deliver a high standard of customer focused financial management service to all budget holders served.
The post holder is responsible for the Financial Performance Management of all Directorates and Care Groups covered by their Team. This will be through supporting the directorates directly or through the line management of the Senior Finance Manager and the Finance Manager within the Team.

- Clear understanding of broader NHS and Government policies and strategies and the impact of these on NHS Provider organisations

- Experience of financial systems and in particular demonstrably good IT skills including Advanced Excel skills and Budgeting software
