The OD Consultant is a key role within Women's and Children's (W& C) service at UHB, who will support the team to drive and deliver improvements in culture, behaviours, engagement and leadership. The focus will initially be with Maternity and Neonates located across three hospital sites.

We are looking for someone who will lead, deliver and embrace innovation, embed a high-performance culture and embody the values of UHB. You will work with a dedicated team of professionals within W& C.

You will be an expert on human behaviour and what is affecting culture and advise on what support is required to strengthen patient safety culture.

Most importantly, the role is to work and support the team as an impartial coach, mentor, a subject matter expert, sounding block, and a confidential ear.

Main duties of the job

Working as a core member of the Women's and Children's clinical and management team, the post holder will provide leadership, direction, professional curiosity, and direct support within maternity and neonatal services.

The post holder will work with key stakeholders and interdependent projects and programmes, to foster greater wellbeing, develop leadership capacity, develop a safety culture, a culture of civility and embed a sense of shared ownership/responsibility and accountability across the services. This will set the foundations for long term sustainable change and improvement that will support the development of clinical excellence across maternity and neonatal pathways.

Applying a 'whole system' perspective, the post holder will utilise a combination of OD improvement skills to support the delivery of sustainable cultural and transformational change.

The post holder will quickly establish credibility, build, and maintain excellent working relationships at all levels of the organisation, ensuring partnership working and effectively bringing together programmes of work.

The post holder will work flexibly, across all hospital sites and external locations as required.

Qualifications

Essential

  • * Must be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust's Values and Behavioural Framework.
  • * Able to demonstrate a commitment and understanding of the importance of treating all individuals with dignity and respect appropriate to their individual needs.


Experience

Essential

  • * Professional and specialised knowledge acquired through master's degree in OD or similar teaching.
  • * If similar teaching, specialist training in Organisational Development.
  • * Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to OD and QI e.g. NHSI QSIR Practitioner.
  • * Accredited facilitator of one or more OD tools e.g. MBTI, WAVE.
