We are looking for an experienced, senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to take up this key clinical and leadership role in our friendly and supportive CYP Autism service. This opportunity has arisen due to the retirement of the current post-holder but comes at a time when there is an active drive to progress service developments in the autism service itself and also pursue more integrated service delivery for neuro-developmental disorders more broadly i.e. ASC, ADHD and learning disability services.

Our CYP Autism service provides assessments of possible Autistic Spectrum Conditions and also, more uniquely, offers specialist advice and interventions to CYP with a diagnosis of ASC. The service is for Children and Young People in the South Staffordshire area up to the age of 18, and extends to the age of 25 if they have an EHCP.

We pride ourselves on operating a multi-disciplinary, NICE concordant, assessment and intervention model. The team is comprised of a peer support worker, speech & language therapists, occupational therapists, nursing and medical colleagues in addition to a number and range of psychological professional posts. As the Consultant Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, you will be responsible for the systematic provision and governance of high quality psychological services and practice across our CYP-Autism and associated services. This will require substantial experience working as a registered Clinical/Counselling psychologist that will include highly developed skills and experience relevant to the breadth of our CYP Mental Health provision as well as specific expertise in ASC, ADHD and children’s learning disabilities. This will add to a background of training and practice with a wide variety of client groups and settings across the whole life course.

This post will deliver significant senior clinical leadership responsibilities and so the post-holder must demonstrate substantial experience of clinical and professional leadership and working at a strategic level. We will require the post-holder to play a key role in our service development and quality improvement programme. We also expect them to be instrumental in the development of more integrated neuro-developmental services. The significance of this post and the development agenda necessitates this being a full-time position.

As well as having psychology colleagues in the service, you will be part of a wider structure for psychological services in CYP Mental Health Services. This includes a Consultant Clinical Psychologist colleague in core CAMHS who is currently engaged in developing our strategy for psychological professions and psychological practice within our CAMHS transformation programme. You will also have the support of a Professional Lead for Psychological Practice operating across the ‘Children and Families Care Group’. Our psychologists regularly provide placements to doctoral trainees. You can also expect to have your own training needs supported along with receiving regular clinical, professional and management supervision.

This post represents a fantastic clinical, strategic and developmental opportunity. We welcome you getting in touch to find out more about how it might suit you.
