The role of the The Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) Practitioner is an exciting opportunity to represent Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust at the Stockport borough MARAC meetings, sharing relevant mental health or learning disability information to inform discussions and decision making.

MARAC is a meeting where information is shared on the highest risk domestic abuse cases between representatives of the Police, Health Child Protection, Housing Practitioner, Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVAs), Probation and other specialists from the statutory and voluntary sectors.

The MARAC Practitioner will have contact with a broad network of multidisciplinary stakeholders including Access/Criminal Justice Teams or Response Hub, Home Treatment Teams, NHS Talking Therapies, CMHT, PsychiatricOutpatient services, Safeguarding Team, Primary Care Networks, Safeguarding Partnership, Criminal Justice Services, Local Authority Partners and Domestic Abuse Leads.

Main duties of the job

To attend regular Stockport MARAC meetings as the PCFT representative and liaise with multi-agency partners in the MARAC process.o To complete comprehensive research in preparation for MARAC meetings.o Complete and contribute to reports for victims and/or perpetrators who are open to mental health services.o Inform mental health colleagues and update systems regarding MARAC processes and risk assessments.o To refer victims identified as high risk into the MARAC process and to attend MARAC to advocate on their behalf to ensure their needs and wishes are reflected in action plans.o To undertake dynamic assessments which explore family history, family functioning, interpersonal relationships, behaviour management (self and family) barriers to education and work, barriers to independence and self- management. To produce or contribute to clear action plans with outcomes based on robust assessment.o To understand the legal framework relating to the protection of children, including the policies and procedures of the Local Safeguarding Children's Board.o To escalate to management any cases where there are ongoing safeguarding or risk management concerns.o To ensure any recommendations from Domestic Homicide Reviews are embedded into service provision

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant professional qualification eg: RGN/RMN/DipSW


Desirable

  • Completion of preparation for Mentorship / Practice Teacher/ Fieldwork Education qualification
  • Evidence of relevant ongoing CPD to post graduate diploma level.


Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of working directly with and supporting victims and perpetrators.
  • Experience of working in a multiagency role and/or environment.
  • Experience of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience of challenging individuals from an empathic and motivated approach to produce positive outcomes
  • Experience of giving advice and guidance to others, including staff in own organisation and other agencies


Desirable

  • Experience of supporting/working with o victims of domestic abuse o those going through the Criminal and/or Civil Justice System o victims of Force Marriage / Honour Based Violence / vulnerable people


Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of child protection issues and legal responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of impact of Domestic abuse on victims and children
  • Understanding of equal opportunities issues and a commitment to the Trust's equal opportunities policy
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge & understanding of Domestic Violence legislation, guidelines & policies


Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing with people from a range of backgrounds
