This post holder will work as part of a countywide sexual health team in providing locality based Integrated Sexual Health and Health advising.

To act as health adviser champion within the countywide team clinic in the absence of senior members of the nursing team.

To contribute to the development of an integrated sexual health service and implement service improvements.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for managing individual patient consultations within a legal and ethical framework, in line with clinical governance and professional accountability.

The post holder will be responsible for undertaking detailed sexual and social histories to assess, plan/implement and evaluate an evidenced based programme of care. Be responsible for considering lifestyle, race, gender and cultural background, in addition to supporting, counselling, or referring clients for medical advice as appropriate. To ensure involvement, as appropriate with the patient, family, carers and significant others.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for the partner notification, management and treatment of patients diagnosed with infections from a locality based caseload generated by Integrated Sexual Health and online testing.

To provide highly specialised advice, information, education and counselling to patients diagnosed with sexually transmitted infections such as Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Herpes, Syphilis, Hepatitis B & C, and HIV: how they are acquired, transmitted and treated.

To provide highly specialised HIV and other blood borne virus pre & post-test counselling and support to high risk groups for blood borne viruses. Providing point of care HIV testing and delivery of results. Initiate transfer of care to the county HIV team via their patient care pathway.
