Imperial College Healthcare Trust is a large multi-site acute Trust in North West London (NWL) and is part of the NWL Acute Provider Collaborative.
The Chief Nursing Officer is looking to strengthen her team by appointing a Director of Nursing to provide professional and inspirational leadership across nursing & midwifery. This will include working with the Executive Team and Trust Board members.
You will need energy, vision, self-direction and an ability to plan and demonstrate continuous improvements in nursing and midwifery professional practice and care.
We are a Pathway to Excellence designated organisation (Charing Cross Hospital), so the ability to empower staff nurses, sisters and charge nurses is key to this role, as is clinical credibility and visibility across all our hospital sites. You will lead on the delivery of a range of nursing & midwifery programmes including safe nurse staffing, Pathway to Excellence and NMAHP education and research. You will have opportunities to work regionally, nationally and internationally on programmes across nursing & midwifery.
This post is a great opportunity for a current Director of Nursing or a Deputy Director to step up and have the privilege of leading an amazing group of nurses and midwives in a vibrant, values driven Trust.
Main duties of the job
The Director of Nursing is a crucial member of the Executive Chief Nursing Officer's (CNO) leadership team. The Director of Nursing plays a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of the Trust strategy, in particular the nursing and midwifery strategy, enabling outstanding nursing & midwifery care, clinical outcomes and managing the day to day operational needs of the Trust's corporate nursing and midwifery function.
Working with and through the divisional teams and Divisional Directors of Nursing and Midwifery, the Director of Nursing will provide pro-active, value-adding, strategic leadership to deliver the nursing and midwifery shared approach and journey to excellence (as well as our corporate nursing and midwifery team goals).
The Director of Nursing will support the CNO across the full range of duties and responsibilities, providing professional nursing and midwifery leadership, expertise and advice on operational and strategic issues within the Trust, across the Acute Provider Collaborative (APC), Integrated Care System (ICS) and NHS England (NHSE).
The Director of Nursing will report directly to the CNO and work collaboratively with the Medical Directors' Office (MDO), the Chief People Officer's Office (CPO) and other executive directors.

Become part of a vibrant team living our values - expert, kind, collaborative and aspirational. You'll get an experience like no other and will fast forward your career.
