Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist wanting to develop a range of skills within a large teaching hospital ? Then Liverpool University Hospitals is the place to be! We are offering an exciting rotational band 5 post covering adult inpatient services. The post offers excellent opportunities to develop and acquire a wide range of essential skills and experience in acquired communication and swallowing impairments. The post will be mainly at our Aintree site and will cover acute, surgical, respiratory and trauma as part of the rotation. You will work as part of a fully integrated Multi-Disciplinary Team alongside speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians and therapy assistants and will have the opportunity to work within our specialist Major Trauma Centre. The SLT team is well established and has an excellent IP FEES and videofluoroscopy service which benefit our acute inpatients. We offer excellent clinical and professional supervision with access to dysphagia training in line with the RCSLT competency framework and you will be supported with ongoing development in complex communication and dysphagia. This post is suitable for newly qualified practitioners and experienced Band 5's , with personal development plans adapted according to experience.

Main duties of the job

This post will be rotational across inpatient services but will include opportunities to gain dysphagia experience on our acute surgical and medical wards. The post offers excellent opportunities to develop and acquire a wide range of essential skills and experience in acquired communication and swallowing impairments. The post will be based mainly at our Aintree site but may require cross site working in the future.

You will work as part of a fully integrated Multi-Disciplinary Team alongside speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians and therapy assistants and will have the opportunity to work within our specialist centres including Major trauma and the newly formed North Mersey Stroke service.

There will be development and training opportunities including completion of dysphagia competency based training and external courses with access to regular peer and senior supervision.
