Are you a committed Paediatric Occupational Therapist with a passion for bringing the 6 C's to life and supporting children and young people to realise their potential. If you're compassionate, enthusiastic and caring, come and join our team.
You'll be able to work flexibly, and in a hybrid way - working from home as well as venues across Knowsley and St Helens in Merseyside, with hours to suit you and the service.
You will be given support to develop your skills further and will have the opportunity to attend in-service training sessions, peer support groups and external training where appropriate.
The post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Main duties of the job
Provide high quality, specialist services to children and young people in settings including: patient homes, schools, nurseries, children's centres, and clinics, as a member of community health services and specialist child health services (including speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and nurses).
Demonstrate an integrated approach to patient care, working collaboratively with external agencies, such as social care and education.
Responsible for managing children and young people with conditions and providing specialist assessments and treatment plans for them. Caseloads will include children with developmental and sensory conditions among others.
Provide specialist advice, education and competency-based training to parents, carers and other professionals on the management and care of children and young people.
Supervise other members of the therapy service including junior staff and students

Work with individuals, families, carers, communities, special educational schools, and other agencies to undertake a generic and specialist assessment of patients/clients using clinical reasoning skills and a range of appropriate assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of their condition.
Formulate and deliver an individual treatment programme using specialist assessment, reasoning skills and treatment skills based on a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice and a range of treatment options.
Evaluate patient progress, reassess, and alter treatment programmes using an accepted/appropriate range of techniques, reporting back to and have regular support and advice from a senior clinician.
Demonstrate the promotion of healthy lifestyle practices to the public by teaching and brief intervention skills.
Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
Work within own sphere of practice.

Provide specialist advice and guidance to work with colleagues to ensure best practice across all disciplines in the assessment, treatment, and long-term management of a complex paediatric case load.

Train, supervise and performance manage staff and students including the use of formal appraisal documentation.

Participate in the supervision scheme as supervisee and supervisor, when appropriate.

Undertake the measurement and evaluation of your work and current practices using evidence-based practice projects, audit, and outcome measures.
Support research activity and assist in developing a research and evidence-based culture within the service.
Participate in practice development, evaluation, audit and research activities relevant to the service to promote evidence-based practice.
