Due to a vacancy in the Medicines Safety Team, applications are invited from Nurses / Pharmacists / Pharmacy Technicians, for a fixed term cover position of Medicines Safety Practitioner at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Trust (GMMH). A secondment opportunity will also be considered.
We are looking for an candidate with an interest in patient safety, to join us in delivering on all aspects of the medicines safety agenda across GMMH. The candidate will work closely with the Medication Safety Officer (MSO) as well as being an integral member of the Trust Medication Safety Committee.
In addition to governance, the role involves a clinical aspect associated with it as per relevant clinical registration, in order to experience front line services first-hand.
The Pharmacy Department at GMMH has over 70 members of staff, distributed over a number of sites. We are an innovative, friendly and supportive team, now is great time to join us as we continue on improving the patient safety journey, to ensure safe use of medication, that is inclusive of all services across GMMH.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will provide support and guidance on medication related incidents, ensuring learning from such is embedded into practice and shared across the GMMH footprint.
They will support the MSO in investigating medicines incidents, reviewing investigations, disseminating alerts, preparing reports and sharing lessons learnt.
Having great inter-personal skills, they will support the MSO in disseminating lessons learnt from incident investigations, identify medicines safety issues from national guidance and embed into clinical practice.
Taking a lead in preparation for the Medicines Safety Committee, including analysis of data from the Trust incident management system, providing interpretation and reports as appropriate to a wide variety of staff groups, is key to the role.
