CNWL London Perinatal Service provide community perinatal mental health services in 5 boroughs, the Maternity-Trauma and Loss Care Service as well as Coombe Wood Mother and Baby Unit.
Coombe Wood is a highly regarded specialist perinatal service providing inpatient treatment and support for pregnant and postnatal women experiencing mental health and emotional difficulties. We support women/birthing people with their babies up to a year old. It is a 10 bedded unit commissioned by NHSE and we accept referrals from anywhere in the country though typically our admissions are from across London and the South East.
Our multi-disciplinary team consists of doctors, nurses, nursery nurses, therapists and support staff who are experienced specialists offering mental health treatment for mothers and support with infant care and development and encouraging the formation of lasting positive bonds.
As one of the Clinical Team Leaders within the team you will be supporting to lead the nursing team and working with the MDT to support woman/birthing people and new parents to best support their families needs in a holistic manner. Supporting linking in creating long-term support plans in the community on discharge. Support junior staff development, supporting management team in clinical audits to supporting with Service Quality Improvement. Escalating any children/adult safeguarding concerns and working with the ward and wider MDT to advocate for both Parent and Infants needs.

Main duties of the job
- Leading nursing team, shift co-ordination
- Collaborative care planning, working withing MDT
- Attending ward rounds and CPA meetings,
- Supporting patients in 1-1 sessions and advocating for their care needs
- Supporting junior staff and students
- Supporting the leadership structure of the unit
- Overseeing admissions and discharges, auditing clinical care - up-to-date care plans, risk assessments
- Understanding of child and adult safeguarding, escalating concerns and making referrals, working alongside social services and legal frameworks.
- Supporting mum's/birthing people and their babies in the crucial first year of life, through mental illness, developing their parent infant relationship and supporting with adjustment to parenthood.
- Knowledge of Infant Perinatal Health and how to identify within babies and how to support mum's/birthing people how to resolve/reduce risk of long-term impact for their babies.
- Leading by example with clinical documentation and concise effective handovers. Working with management teams on QI projects
- Supporting the service in leading the team be providing the best evidence based led practice, with a holistic approach.
