JPUH is located within Gorleston-on-Sea, part of the beautiful Norfolk coastline, and provides care to a population of 230,000 residents of Great Yarmouth and Waveney.

Main duties of the job
The Lead Nurse position is pivotal in leading and influencing excellence in patient care and professional practice covering a wide range of responsibilities (please refer to job description and personal specification). It is integral to delivery of the strategic vision for the Trust and how we develop services that are responsive to the changing needs of the local population and wider healthcare environment.
The post holder will be responsible for working collaboratively with internal and external partners as we progress and achieve our strategic ambitions within the Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care System.

In this dynamic and varied role, you will be a member of the Senior Divisional Leadership Triumvirate within the Division of Medicine, Diagnostics and Clinical Support Services, where you will support and drive the strategic direction of the Division providing effective and visible leadership to the Nursing and AHP workforce.
The successful post holder will utilise their strong leadership and clinical skills to inspire our teams and enable the delivery of high-quality clinical care and patient safety within the Division.
This is an exciting time to join the team at James Paget University Hospitals (JPUH) due to various exciting initiatives, including: New Hospital Programme development, implementation of a system-wide electronic patient record, and acute trust speciality clinical network collaboration with system partners. As such, this role would suit an applicant with significant healthcare experience to progress such initiative for the benefits of our service users and staff.

- Relevant degree in health care related subject
- Master's degree in healthcare related subject or demonstrable ability to work at master's degree level
- Professional management qualification (NVQ level 4)/ working towards postgraduate level or equivalent recent senior management experience
Skills, abilities & competencies

- Significant knowledge and understanding of nursing operations and professional issues in an acute Trust. Comprehensive understanding of change management approaches demonstrating experience of leading change programme, with innovative solutions
- Evidence of understanding of the principles of nursing workforce profile, strategic workforce planning and workforce deployment issues
- Significant evidence of leading the development of nursing care responsive to the evidence base, national and local policy and good practice guidelines
- Evidence of understanding and leading on the nursing, Clinical Governance agenda and practical approaches to implementation ensuring robust systems are in place
- Evidence of analysis, interpretation, and facilitation of complex data or information relating to the role
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate sensitive, complex/contentious information relating to patients and staff with empathy and reassurance where there are significant barriers to understanding.

- Extensive experience in a senior nurse (8a or above) leadership role
- Evidence of achieving quality/performance achievements at a team level
- Evidence of monitoring and managing poor performance of quality indicators and implementation of successful improvement plans
- Demonstrate experience of the NHS strategic agenda together with an understanding of the current issues in nursing policy and practice
- Evidence of responsibility for a delegated budget, managing financial systems and experience of budgetary management including monitoring the use of financial resources by subordinates, including professional contribution to business planning
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, inspire and support a multidisciplinary professional teams
