Ward 15 is a Trauma and Orthopaedic ward and we are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about nursing and with the help of the ward Sister, is dedicated to improving patient care through effective leadership and management of our ward team.

With 2 years of nursing experience, you will be flexible and approachable and possess the skills required to lead the ward on a daily basis. You will act as a role model for our team, leading by example and providing high standards of patient care at all times.

If you are passionate about making a difference and would like to develop your skills in this role, as well as enhancing your leadership experience.

You will be able to communicate on all levels with the multi-disciplinary team to help continuously provide high standards of safe patient care at all times.

Main duties of the job

Clinical
  • Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with Trust guidelines and policies
  • Act as a role model for the development of clinical skills and knowledge within the ward team
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Support the Sister/Charge Nurse in setting and monitoring standards and seek to continuously improve standards and the quality of patient care.
  • Provide assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring written records are kept
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures

Education and Training
  • Contribute to the promotion of a positive learning environment within the clinical area
  • In conjunction with the Sister/Charge Nurse ensure all staff have an individual performance development plan
  • Ensure both self and team members achieve annual mandatory training requirements
  • Participate in preceptorship and mentorship programmes

Managerial
  • Working with the Sister/Charge Nurse provide leadership to the clinical team, developing new rotas/ways of working
  • Support the Sister/Charge Nurse in staff rostering, ensuring adequate skill mix
  • Deputise for the Sister/Charge Nurse in her/his absence.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (Level 1)
  • Recognised teaching/assessing qualification


Experience

Essential

  • At least 3 years at Band 5 or equivalent
  • Clinical audit and standard setting
  • Working with a wide range of professionals


Training

Essential

  • Evidence of continued professional development and implementation in clinical practice within the last 12 months


Desirable

  • Understanding of training needs in relation to post
