Job Summary:
Band 7 Chief Cardiac Physiologist - Echocardiography. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual with experience in performing and reporting adult transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) to join our expanding service and develop their knowledge and skills.

To be successful in this post you must be capable of providing an excellent level of clinical competence and knowledge in echocardiography and be a team player. The post holder should also be a positive role model and possess good communication, organisational and assertiveness skills.

Applicants should have a BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent and at least 2 years postgraduate experience in performing and reporting TTE independently, together with British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) Level 2 Adult TTE Accreditation (or equivalent). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to all aspects of the echocardiography service, including development of subspecialty expertise as appropriate.

Main duties of the job

Following the recent successful bid to develop a cardio-respiratory Community Diagnostic Hub on the Kingston Hospital site, we are looking to recruit additional echocardiographers to support the expansion of the local service. This comes on a background of recent significant investment in the echocardiography department at Kingston hospital, including the purchase of several GE E95/S70 machines and a new echocardiography reporting platform, and appointment of a clinical lead Consultant Cardiologist with expertise in echocardiography to support development of an advanced echocardiography service, which now includes contrast/bubble, stress and transoesophageal echocardiography.

The echocardiography department at Kingston Hospital provides a routine outpatient and inpatient TTE service, with additional specialised services as above. We have a weekly review and teaching meeting attended by consultants, registrars, cardiac physiologists and junior staff. All physiologists are encouraged to attend relevant courses/meetings as continued professional development is important to our team and post-graduate exams are actively encouraged. Our department has a strong emphasis on teaching/training of echocardiographers, specialist registrars and newly qualified junior members of staff. The successful candidate would show an ongoing commitment to training in the department.
