We are looking for a Systemic Family Therapist with a passion for working with children, young people and families to join us in Stockport CAMHS. We are a welcoming team who value thinking and working systemically and have a strong well-being ethos with a supportive, compassionate culture. We are also fortunate to be based in a modern purpose-built suite of clinical spaces and offices. Within the team we have an experienced Systemic Family Therapist and a number of other Therapists and Psychologists and are able to offer interventions based on a range of approaches including CBT, DBT, EMDR, IPT, DDP, CFT and Psychotherapy as well as Systemic Family Therapy. We also support a number of trainees including MSc Systemic Family Therapy trainees and staff completing the Systemic Family Practitioner training so opportunities to develop supervisory practice, be part of training and development within the MDT and join an established reflecting team are part of the role. Although this is an 8a post, aimed at experienced Systemic Family Therapists, we actively welcome more recently qualified applicants and will support your development from a band 7 through to an 8a role. We have in house training programmes and provide access to additional training as appropriate.
Main duties of the job
To undertake highly specialist systemic assessments of children and their families leading to systemic formulations and the delivery of highly specialist systemic psychotherapy to the children and families referred to Stockport CAMHS. To utilise models of service delivery such as consultation and training to the CAMHS workforce, to work within the thrive framework offering advice and consultation to wider stakeholders.

To provide systemic psychotherapy as an autonomous professional at a highly specialist level employing methods based upon evidence.
At all times work in ways which are sensitive to and appropriate for the needs of families from a wide range of racial, cultural and religious backgrounds. This includes abilities to understand and offer therapeutic interventions to a variety of family forms including single parents, same sex couples and their families, extended families and people with mental health difficulties. To take a proactive stance in challenging racism and discrimination and support the development of a culturally competent service.
To undertake detailed and highly specialist psychological and systemic assessment of children and families using such assessment procedures as may be appropriate. This will involve face to face contact with children and families to discuss and work through highly complex, sensitive and personal information related to their mental health presentation. This would also include the completion of personal and relational development, genograms, eco-maps, analysis and assessment of multiple levels of contextual meaning, deconstruction of current interactional patterns of behaviour and meaning around mental health issues and complex relationships, creating methods for client centred analysis of change, through the use of live team observations, videotape analysis, and other systemic assessment tools. To provide highly specialist psychological assessment including issues of risk.
To be responsible for implementing a range of systemic interventions for individuals and their families, including meetings with parents and groups, adjusting and refining systemic formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
