Nottinghamshire Healthcare has an exciting opportunity for an experienced workforce professional to lead the rota management function within Medical Workforce. It is a fast-paced environment, supporting colleagues across the organisation, to produce medical rotas that are efficient and effectively managed. This role will link closely with the Trust's medical engagement plan for Resident Doctors .
This is an important role supporting the delivery of key activity targets, including a reduction in locum and agency spend along with modelling of new/revised shift patterns and designing of rotas to ensure safe medical staffing levels are optimised for patient care. You will need a flexible approach to work to meet the needs of the service and be able to attend Highbury Hospital for Resident Doctor induction and regular face to face engagement sessions. High levels of resilience are key to deliver agreed targets and the demands of the service.
This role requires an experienced specialist who has significant knowledge advising on medical terms and conditions. The role will suit a highly motivated individual, who is able to deliver under pressure and can handle competing demands. They will work on their own initiative, having a flexible and adaptable approach, which is people centred and leads by example. The role sits within our People & Culture team and the post holder will be a key contributor to delivery of Our People Plan which addresses the NHS National People Plan direction.
Main duties of the job
Critically, you will be responsible for ensuring that national Terms & Conditions for Medical & Dental colleagues are adhered to when planning, co-ordinating and implementing rotas. You will operationally manage and review the recruitment procedures, onboarding of Resident Doctors. The role will ensure timely implementation and delivery of rotas, along with leading professional, consistent advice and guidance on rota management.
Experience of leading and implementing change will be vital. You will support the implementation of specific medical workforce projects to enable the Trust to meet the challenges of the national medical workforce agenda and internally ensuring compliant and cost-effective medical rotas.
Along with the Guardian of Safe Working Hours, you will manage the exception reporting process, analysing data and advising our Care Groups and other committees both internal and external to the Trust regarding medical rotas.
The role will play a key part in the contribution towards the wellbeing of Resident Doctors through leading on rotas that are supportive to both the individual and service requirements. Communication is vital, therefore liaison and negotiation with all levels of colleagues, keeping them informed of any changes to rotas, will be a measure of success. You will work with clinical leads and operational managers to ensure the overall effective use of resources and continuous improvement in service delivery.
