Main duties of the job

Neonatal Services at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) are delighted to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity for a patient focussed, friendly and enthusiastic leader to join our Senior Nursing Team.

As a senior leader in Neonatal Intensive Care you will be responsible for the daily running of the department which will include clinically co-ordinating the unit on a 24/7 working pattern as well as leading and mentoring a skill mix team. We are looking for leaders who will strive to deliver an inclusive culture whilst maintaining quality care and safety.

Southampton Neonatal Services are expanding our service which included a new Special Care Baby Unit as well as increasing our HDU and ICU capacity. Our MDT team will be integral to the success of this and leadership team will be at the forefront of this change.

Qualifications, knowledge, and experience

Essential

  • 1st Level Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC RegisterManagement Course (or equivalent)
  • Recognised mentorship qualification and experience as a Sign Off mentor
  • Degree or working towards
  • Higher Education Institute approved course in supporting learners in practice. ?Supporting a range of learners in practice ?Supporting colleagues to promote effective learning in practice
  • Extensive experience in specialty to include considerable experience at Band 6 level
  • Evidence of clinical leadership ability
  • Proven management experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Evidence of utilising evidence in practice
  • Logical and consistent career pattern
  • Expert clinical skills
  • Ability to prioritise and deliver agreed objectives
