  • Do you have a specific interest in providing compassionate and individualised care in regards to screening?
  • Do you have awareness and/or experience of the NHS England antenatal and newborn hearing screening requirements as well as the UK National Screening Committee and Public Health England best practice recommendations?

We deliver care across a large geographical footprint, encompassing some of the UK's most varied and beautiful areas. You would join a dedicated small team of coordinators, contributing to leadership, education, monitoring and service governance alongside the compassionate and sensitive support our women and families need.

Whilst challenging, this role allows the midwife to deliver exceptional care to our population whilst ensuring the strategic and operational Public Health England and UK National Screening committee requirements are maintained. It is therefore a satisfying mix of clinical and non-clinical work that will use your advanced skills in communication, prioritisation and collaboration.

You will need to hold Registered Midwife status plus PIN with the NMC

Main duties of the job

Examples include and are not limited to:

Contributes to implementation and development of antenatal and new-born screening programmes consistent with new national standards, guidance and research.

Supports women, families and staff involved in the delivery of the screening pathways, actively involved in audit and governance the service.

Contributes to and creates reports for national programme data collection, responding to trends, clusters, identified training needs and adapting the service in line with national recommendations.

Provides information and choices to women and families with compassion, respect, dignity and with a dedication of informed choice, using exemplar communication skills, mindful of barriers, challenges and the emotive nature of the service.

Person Specification

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Registered Midwife with current registration with NMC
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent study and experience
  • MIP or equivalent teaching/screening course
  • Hbo screening qualification or willingness to access relevant study


Desirable

  • Supervisor of Midwives
  • Studies at Masters level


Skills and Attributes

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of clinical audit
  • Excellent IT skills - excel, power point and word
  • Knowledge of evidence based practice and clinical governance


Experience and Knowledge Required

Essential

  • Minimum of 3 years current post registration experience as a midwife
  • Evidence of management and leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Initiative to implement and develop new systems and procedures


Desirable

  • Involvement in antenatal screening programme
  • Qualification in counselling
