The Digital Design Collaborative (DDC) is a group of NHS Acute Trusts in the East Midlands Region of England who have come together to strategically plan and collaborate on their collective digital transformation journey, with the ambition to strategically operate as one health care system.

The DDC member organisations have embarked on a digital excellence journey to implement a nationally leading Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system that will transform the quality of care for their patients and staff by having instantly accessible information using the latest mobile technology, reducing paper usage and utilising clinical decision support tools.

Main duties of the job

As the Central Training Manager, you will report into the DDC Central Team and shall be responsible for all aspects of leadership and management of the Collaborative's central training approach. This will include the design and delivery of DDC required EPR training, with the ultimate aim of developing a EMAP Centre of Training Excellence.

Using your excellent knowledge of enterprise-wide training management and theory, you will:
  • Work in partnership with DDC members' Training Leads to develop a collaborative training strategy and approach through to implementation.
  • Lead on the discovery and scoping of an EMAP Centre of Learning Excellence presenting an options paper to the DDC for decision.
  • Scope and define the structure of a central training team
  • Support scoping and development of training artefacts to enable centralised delivery of Nervecentre EPR
  • Travel to the member hospital sites as is required

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Recognised Learning and Development Qualification
  • Knowledge of the provision of health services


Desirable

  • Demonstrable understanding of clinical workflows relevant to EPR in NHS setting
  • Evidence of continuous personal and professional development


Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of leading enterprise wide EPR training programmes
  • Demonstrable experience in strategy, approach and course development, planning and delivery
  • Experience in leading and contributing to the success of a multi-disciplinary team as effective team member
  • Experience of contributing to the development of policies and procedures
  • Experience of managing a training budget
  • Understanding of NHS Digital systems and services
  • Experience in the assessment and use of eLearning tools i.e. Captivate, Userlane


Desirable

  • Experience of developing and executing training plans


Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills suitable for a range of audiences
  • Able to clearly manage priorities for self and contribute to those of team in order to meet targets
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and manage unpredictable workload with conflicting priorities
  • Quality focused with an innovative approach and ability to solve problems
  • Good knowledge and training technique delivery
  • Have knowledge of, and be able to communicate effectively on operational requirements for training delivery (e.g. performance monitoring etc)

  • Proficiency in the use of Digital tools, particularly Microsoft Office. Advanced keyboard skills

  • Knowledge of clinical risk management policies and processes
  • Must be familiar with hospital environment and the role of EPR Systems in the clinical and business operation of the Trust
