Main duties of the job

We are looking for a friendly, forward-thinking and enthusiastic individual to join our Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) team. The role will be focused on working with colleagues in both Cardiology and Respiratory, to develop and progress towards gaining IQIPS accreditation.

The role will be part of the Southampton & Southwest Hampshire collaborative CDC programme consisting of UHS, Solent NHS Trust and Southern Health NHS Trust. This role will be hosted by UHS but there is an expectation that the successful individual will effectively work across the trusts, supporting the clinical teams within the CDC programme to work towards successful IQIPS accreditation.

Job responsibilities

Main Responsibilities
  • Support the Community Diagnostic Centres (CDCs) and Physiological services Departments within University Hospitals Southampton (UHS) and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust (SHFT) with quality, governance, and safety standards in the Physiological services.
  • Manage and be accountable for the IQIPS accreditation processes throughout the departments, carrying out required management and leadership responsibilities to develop a roadmap to successfully gaining IQIPS Accreditation through the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
  • Support the specialities in ensuring high quality audits and governance processes are in place and supported to enable progression to accredited status.
  • Support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service by working with the specialities and leadership teams to implement quality and service improvements.

The role will require the individual to work in collaboration with the specialities and management across both Trusts and the CDC programme team. They will responsibly lead with the on-going development of clinical practice and standards of care within the services, it will include the development of policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues to support progression towards IQIPS accredited status.

What we're looking for
  • Awareness and understanding of the requirements of IQIPS Accreditation
  • High level of knowledge of a wide range of tests and techniques performance by Clinical Physiologists
  • Previous experience of creating Standard Operation Procedures )SOPs) and departmental protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to present information to multiple stakeholders, adjusting approaches to suit the audience.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to work to facilitate and build engagement with multiple stakeholders (both clinical and non-clinical)
  • Car driver - Able to work between sites. Due to the collaborative nature of the role, it is expected that the successful individual will need to be able to travel between trust sites.

Person Specification

Qualifications / training required

Essential

  • BSc / MSc Clinical Physiology or equivalent plus management qualification/ experience.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development supporting the role of IQIPS lead.


Desirable

  • IQIPS assessor trained
  • Experience/ knowledge of Quality Management Systems


Previous or relevant experience necessary

Essential

  • Detailed knowledge of the IQIPS standards V2.1 2023
  • Awareness and understanding of the requirements of IQIPS accreditation
  • High level knowledge of a wide range of tests and techniques performed by Clinical Physiologists.
  • Previous experience of creating SOPs and departmental protocols
  • Able to coach/share quality improvement tools with departments to facilitate IQIPS accreditation.
  • Service Improvement experience.
  • Experience of quality and leadership


Desirable

  • Experience of clinical audit.
  • Knowledge and interaction with internal/external departments to facilitate/validate evidence collection for IQIPS
