Assertive Outreach Team - Southampton
We are seeking a CBT Psychological Therapist or Applied Psychologist to work in Southampton’s Assertive Outreach Team (AOT).
Southampton’s AOT supports people with complex psychosis who are deemed “difficult to engage”. The client group includes people who present significant risks, those who have not responded well to previous treatment, and those with substance misuse issues. The service is committed to delivering high quality, evidence-based interventions to this group, and the postholder will join a psychologically minded team.
We are looking for someone with some experience in working with people with severe psychosis. You will have good interpersonal skills and be keen to work flexibly within the multidisciplinary team. You will be supervised and managed by a senior clinician with expertise in psychological interventions for psychosis.
We are committed to supporting the team to develop and implement their psychological skills by providing consultation, advice, supervision and training. Evaluation of interventions and the effectiveness of the service is integral to what we do.
You will be a BABCP-accredited therapist or a HCPC-registered applied psychologist, or eligible for registration at the point of taking up the post if successful.
You will primarily be based at College Keep. Flexible working arrangements are possible, including some remote working according to clinical need.
Additional hours may be available, up to full-time, including sessions within psychological therapies or specialist psychosis services, according to your interests.
In this role, you will form part of the wider psychological therapies team within Southampton. This is a cohesive, supportive and friendly team with a wealth of clinical expertise including CBT, DBT, CAT, ACT, EMDR and psychodynamic approaches. We have good supervision structures and an excellent track record of CPD, as well as strong links with the University of Southampton and the University of Plymouth. The Trust was recently ranked number one nationally for Top Research Locations. There is an active research clinic based at College Keep, involved in the development of new psychological therapies for psychosis.
We are committed to equality of opportunity and keen to increase the diversity of our team.
