A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 or Band 6 (dependent on experience) Mental Health Practitioners to undertake a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
If you already have a core qualification such as Mental Health Nurse (RMN/RLD), Mental Health Practitioner, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or creative therapies e.g. Art Therapy - with proof of relevant professional registration Or recognised degree level broad based health & social care qualification which will require completion of The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) Knowledge Skills and Attributes (2) you will be considered for B6
If you have aDegree level qualification and/or equivalent experience in a child and family related field e.g. social work, youth and community work, nursing you will be considered for the B5 postalong with knowledge and skills framework you would be eligible to apply to B5.
Please ensure your application form contains information around prior experience of CBT including Clinical Practice, Supervision Received, Academic Knowledge and describe CBT models and/or texts that have influenced your practice.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicants will work within Sefton CAMHS or Venus as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering, under supervision, high-quality, outcome informed, focused and evidence-based interventions for children and young people in accordance with the competency framework for their therapeutic modality.
Applicants need to be able to start the Post Graduate training programme taught academic dates in January 2025 and commit to attendance at all university based taught and self-study days required by Manchester University.
You will work in the service for the remaining days of the week using your newly developed skills to ensure you gain the necessary clinical practice hours to fulfil the academic programme. This is 200 hours of modality and case specific practice for the full time courses.

Alder Hey Children's Hospital in partnership with Venus are excited to offer two CBT IAPT training places for 2024/2025. One of these posts will be hosted by Sefton Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and the other by Venus. This will enable the successful applicants to work with children in a variety of community settings with support from their colleagues to identify young people with the level of needs suited to the requirements of the academic programme.

Those successful applicants appointed at Band 5 will, on successful completion of the programme, return to the service where you will have as part of your job plan opportunity to deliver interventions aligned to your therapeutic modality training alongside generic CAMHS work for a minimum of 1 year. This will be supported by a skills and competency framework for Band 5 staff which will offer potential progression to Band 6.
To progress to the Band 6 role you will also be required to be registered with a professional body or have undertaken the accreditation process and maintain this with the relevant body for your therapeutic modality.
Those successful applicants appointed at Band 6 will, on successful completion of the programme, return to the service where you will have as part of your job plan opportunity to deliver interventions aligned to your therapeutic modality alongside generic CYP MH work.
There will be a local 4 week induction and you will be supported by a skills and competency framework for Band 6 staff to ensure you are assisted to achieve all elements of the Band 6 role.
