The Clinical Safety Officer (CSO) position is a specialist clinical patient safety role within the Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (KHFT) & Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare (HRCH) Clinical & Digital landscape. The postholder will administer the Clinical Risk Management (CRM) activities as required by Health and Social Care Act 2012 Standard DCB0160 to support the safe development, introduction, deployment, maintenance and deconditioning of Clinical Digital Systems (CDS).
Main duties of the job
As part of the Clinical, Patient Risk and Digital teams the individual will further embed the initiated CRM process within the organisations and will initially be integral in reviewing legacy and current clinical digital systems. The post-holder will support staff to gain the skills required to undertake appropriate levels of CRM work ensuring clinical digital safety is understood and facilitated wherever appropriate within the organisations. The CSO will hold overall responsibility for the CRM processes and Clinical Safety Cases required for each CDS.
The CSO will engage with the wider healthcare landscape within Southwest London, London and nationally to maximise the efficiency and economy of CDS for our shared patients and as directed by NHS or relevant guidance or requirements. Additionally, the CSO will support the CRM process if KHFT and HRCH merge in 2024 with support from NHS England.
