Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your paediatric skills? We are looking for a dietitian to join our specialist paediatric team at University Hospitals Dorset for a twelve-month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave from November 2024. Perhaps you have some experience of paediatrics and would like to take the opportunity to develop your skills further.

The established and well respected paediatric dietetics team of 4 (3.2WTE) offer support to two busy children's wards and outpatient services. This role will involve working with a range of paediatric patients and their families, including those with type 1 diabetes in both in- and outpatient settings at the Poole Hospital site of UHD. Some experience of working with a paediatric caseload and/or diabetes is desirable.

The role is currently based at Poole Hospital site of UHD with monthly MDT paediatric diabetes clinics on the Royal Bournemouth Hospital site. However, we anticipate the relocation of services including the paediatric service to a brand-new, purpose-built women's and children's unit on the Bournemouth site, with an expected completion date in 2025/6.

We work very closely with the entire paediatric MDT, including consultants, specialist nurses, psychologists, ward and support staff as well as health visitors and children's community nurses.

Main duties of the job

This post offers excellent opportunities for professional and personal development. The department is committed to CPD and we offer a wide range of in-house specialist training.

You will be invited to regular professional update meetings across the whole dietetic team and we are closely connected with our colleagues across Dorset holding a Dorset wide education and networking event twice yearly.

You will have the opportunity to work on audit and also be involved in student training. You will be very well supported in developing your skills and knowledge according to your needs by the specialist colleagues within each area.

Hours are negotiable and we would love to hear from you if you are interested in any of the areas above as we are happy to be flexible and work with the right person in a way that meets everyone needs.

We can offer flexible working patterns and working days/hours. We would be very happy to have a conversation about specific areas of interest in the speciality as well how your skill set fits with our service and your development needs.
