An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a part time Band 6 Specialist Dietitian (18.75 hrs/ week) to work within a Macmillan Specialist Head and Neck Rehabilitation team Local Support Team. You will be working alongside a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Cancer care coordinator and a Speech and Language Therapist.
This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated individual to join this team to provide support for patients after they have received head and neck cancer treatment both surgical and non-surgical and beyond.
Main duties of the job
The Head and Neck Local Support team run multidisciplinary focused outpatient clinics at St James Institute of Oncology, Leeds. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic Dietitian with excellent communication and team working skills, to work as an integral member of this team. You will be responsible for providing highly specialist nutritional assessment and advice to patients requiring nutritional support particularly Enteral Nutrition. Experience of enteral feeding and knowledge of oncology and enteral feeding is required.
You will also work alongside all team members and support them in developing, implementing and maintaining an excellent service and improving the cancer patient experience. In addition, the team run a Head and Neck post treatment educational programme. You will also be involved in the organising and planning of this.

To provide part of a professional Nutrition and Dietetic care service within a
Specialist area. This includes advice to in-patients, out-patients, all healthcare staff and participation in the training of student dietitians. Shows initiative in assisting and supporting the senior specialist dietitians and the Clinical Dietetic Manager in the day to day management of the department.
The post holder will:
1 Manage own case load to a level agreed with supervisor/line manager.
2 Be involved in the provision of education and training to healthcare staff, patients, care providers and students.
3 Be a key member of the multidisciplinary care team to provide integrated dietetic care.
4 Shows initiative in assisting and supporting the senior specialist dietitians and the chief dietitian in the day to day management of the department.
5 Deliver training to healthcare staff, dietitians and students.
6 Be an active member of the out of hours service.

Essential
- BSc(Hons) Nutrition & Dietetics or Equivalent Experience of working as a Dietitian within a healthcare setting.
- Attendance on relevant specialist accredited post-graduate courses at post-graduate diploma level or equivalent
- HCPC registration.

- Good written and oral communication skills.
