An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, motivated and positive individual to join the Quality Improvement and Compliance team. You will work closely with the Head of Quality improvement and safeguarding and patient safety specialists to support a governance programme to include quality of patient care, safety and experience.

You will support a variety of specialist services on a range of governance and quality matters. The role will involve closely working with senior clinical leaders to ensure they manage their clinical governance activities effectively. This includes reviewing incidents, risks, identifying trends and themes within services, supporting patient safety investigations and ensuring services are prepared for external regulatory inspections.

Main duties of the job

You will have a knowledge and experience in Risk Management systems and processes for managing and reporting incidents and investigation, You will have excellent communication skills, and the ability to present reports and data to senior management both verbally and in writing. You will need to be able to analyse and clearly present complex data.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree level qualification or significant equivalent experience, knowledge & skills
  • Able to demonstrate post graduate level of knowledge or hold a relevant post-graduation qualification
  • Microsoft office skills or equivalent
  • Root cause analysis / investigation methodologies/ systems approach to safety investigation
  • PTTLs (preparing to teach in lifelong learning sector) or equivalent


Desirable

  • Certificate in Quality Management i.e. ISO 90001 auditor
  • Training relating to quality improvement and quality assurance methodologies for example QSIR, QI lite
  • ILM Level 5 in leadership and management, or equivalent
  • Project Management / Prince 2 (Foundation) or relevant experience
  • Patient safety specialist PSS Level 2 Access to practice / Systems approach to learning from patient safety incidents


Knowledge

Essential

  • Expert knowledge and experience in using Risk Management systems and processes for managing and reporting, e.g. Incidents, investigations
  • Understanding of Governance, Risk Management and the quality agenda
  • Significant and considerable administration experience including complex report writing
  • Understanding of investation tools RCA or eg SEIPS Systems Engineering Initiative for Patient Safety
  • Strong IT skills and an understanding of data management and databases / Significant experience of working with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Able to communicate complex aspects of quality governance in a style that all staff can comprehend and implement
  • Use of IT packages such as Excel, Incident Reporting software, , patient administration systems, PowerPoint, infographics, the internet and intranet.
  • Ability to apply basic principles of Governance & Risk Management at a practical level
  • Data presentation skills


Experience

Essential

  • Experience and evidence of presenting to senior management team
  • Experience of quality / governance work
  • Experience of data analysis and interpretation in a clinical healthcare environment from a range of sources, exporting data and providing reports
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels,
  • Experience of writing reports and investigations / Ability to work independently and provide high-level presentation material for performance/quality related project
  • Achievement of challenging deadlines whilst maintaining quality and professional standards
  • Experience of supporting investigations / incidents including creating timelines and reviewing and advising on investigation reports and information gathering
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines, setting priorities and dealing with a varied workload
  • Good organisational and administrative skills, with a structured approach to work
  • Audit Experience
  • Undertaking risk assessments


Desirable

  • Experience of working with clinical or non-clinical incidents / serious incident framework
  • Awareness of CHCP CIC policies, particularly in relation to Data Protection and Confidentiality
