This is an exciting opportunity to join the southwest satellite provision for the National and Specialist CAMHS OCD, BDD and Related Disorders Service. They are seeking to recruit a permanent part-time Band 8a Psychologist. This service is nationally and internationally renowned in the field of paediatric OCD, BDD and related disorders and is at the forefront of research and clinical practice developments.

As the only specialist service for children with OCD or BDD in England, the service is driving forward an agenda to improve equity of access to highly specialist treatment, for those young people outside of London and the southeast. As part of this endeavour, a satellite service has been set up to serve the southwest of England. Current host sites for this service include the Mood Disorders Centre at the University of Exeter and Evergreen House, which is a Devon CAMHS site. Young people accessing the service are also seen in other settings, such as in their home or school. The post holder will work across these sites, and potentially new sites, depending on clinical need and site availability.

The service provides specialist assessment and treatment for children with OCD, BDD, and related disorders. The post-holder will work closely with other senior and experienced Clinical Psychologists on the team, a part-time Consultant Psychiatrist, as well as trainees from a variety of disciplines.

Main duties of the job

The post-holders will carry their own caseload and work with children, young people and their families with OCD, BDD and related disorders such as Tourette Syndrome and Trichotillomania.

As well as being part of multi-disciplinary assessments, the post-holders would be delivering manualised CBT for the different disorders and would have the opportunity to train up in this treatment, according to service need.

The post-holder would be expected to supervise and manage other psychologists in the team, including Assistant Psychologists and trainee and qualified Clinical Psychologists.

The post-holder will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing service developments and research within the clinic, and to take a lead in some of these projects.

Our Trust headquarters is located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2) and is within walking distance from the beautiful green spaces of Ruskin Park and the vibrant high-street that offers great shopping opportunities and with a wide range of restaurants. Currently the team are doing a mix of working on site and from home. We provide services nationally as well as to our local SLaM boroughs of Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham, and Southwark, and the post-holder would be expected to offer home-based treatment where clinically indicated.

In this role you will be able to work Monday to Friday within the time frame of 8:30AM to 6:30PM (This may include working early mornings, later evenings or Saturdays as part of the core working hours/working pattern for this post and you will not be expected to work in excess of 7.5 hours a day) giving you the very best of good work life balance. Currently the team are doing a mix of working on site and from home. The working pattern would be typically 2 days on site in the southwest and 1 day working from home although this may change depending on service need.

• To provide a highly specialist psychology service to children and young people with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder and related disorders including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.
• To contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.

Entry-level qualification in Applied Psychology (professional Doctorate, or combination of MSc plus PG Diploma level additional training) that has been accepted by the HCPC for purposes of professional registration. (A/I)

Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature in child and adolescent mental health services, specifically using a CBT framework. (A/I)

Experience of supervising assistant and trainee psychologists having completed the relevant training. (A/I)

Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological assessments and interventions for children and young people with OCD, BDD and related disorders (A/I)
