Main duties of the job

The Nutrition and Dietetic service is split into speciality teams secondary care, bariatrics, primary care, adult and paediatric diabetes, home enteral feeding, and paediatrics. We have 8 Band 5 Dietitians, 32 Band 6 Dietitians and 9 Band 7 Dietitians. We are supported by Dietetic assistants and Central Administration.

Our service is based on four sites at Darlington Memorial Hospital, University Hospital North Durham, Bishop Auckland Hospital and Shotley Bridge Hospital.

This team provides cover to the general adult population within county Durham and Darlington and covers nursing home visits, domiciliary home visits, community training sessions, community hospitals and GP and general outpatient clinic sessions. This post will be based at Bishop Auckland Hospital but post holders may be required to work county wide.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for a their own caseload referred to the service by community or secondary care professionals. Patients will be seen individually, in groups or with carers in a variety of settings including hospital wards, outpatient clinics, and telephone clinics. The post holder will work closely with other Community Dietitians and members of the wider multidisciplinary team.
