Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and may be required to teach other nursing and non-nursing staff. To be delegated to take responsibility for the co-ordination of a designated caseload in the absence of the person who has continuing responsibility.

To provide leadership, supervision and support to junior staff both qualified and unqualified in the absence of the Deputy Team Leader and Ward Manager during the course of the normal shift pattern,and to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources available to deliver a high standard of quality care to service users.

To take part in the service rotational training programme.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential
  • Current professional registration - NMC
  • To act as a mentor for student university placements. Having the mentoring qualification or being willing to work towards this qualification and attending mentorship updates as required
Experience Essential
  • Experience of working with patients with a range of mental health problems.
  • Assessment, Care Planning, Implementation of care and Review
Desirable
  • Previous recent experience in caring for the elderly with mental health conditions.
