We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated, professional to join our integrated safeguarding team. As a Specialist Safeguarding Adults Nurse/ Practitioner you will have a key role in supporting the safeguarding adult agenda within the trust and across wider partnerships.

You will work closely with the Named Nurse - Safeguarding Adults, Lead Nurse for Mental Health, Learning Disability and Neurodiversity and the Specialist MCA practice nurse to support the clinical areas in their safeguarding duty, providing advice, support, expert opinion, training, supervision and ensuring that safeguarding is made personal.

The post holder should have significant experience of working with adults at risks and have an in depth knowledge base and understanding of safeguarding adults specifically in relation to adults at risk of abuse, Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, the Care Act, Domestic Abuse and Self-Neglect.

Proven leadership skills are essential as is a high level of knowledge around safeguarding adults with the ability to be flexible, resilient and responsive to our core safeguarding duties.

You will hold a professional registration (Nurse/AHP/Social worker) or have professional experience working within an agency that has statutory duties for safeguarding (Health, Police, Ambulance service, Local authority).

You will need to demonstrate a passion for safeguarding and in ensuring high standards of care across the safeguarding agenda.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required, in conjunction with the Lead Nurse for Integrated Safeguarding and the Head of Integrated Safeguarding:
  • Provide an expert service that safeguards and promotes the welfare of Adults at risk, whilst maintaining a 'Think Family Approach' to the Safeguarding Adults agenda
  • Provide evidence- based specialist information, advice, guidance and support and training required to help staff practice safely to safeguard confidently and effectively.
  • Contribute to facilitating delivery of high quality safeguarding services to an agreed and auditable quality standard that complies with all national and local legislation and guidance.
  • Provide visible, pro-active, high quality clinical presence to staff in relation to safeguarding adults
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the remit for adult safeguarding and the associated legislative requirements.

Essential

  • Registered Nurse/Healthcare Professional
  • Degree
  • Post graduate and / or relevant training


Desirable

  • Registered Community Public Health Nurse
  • Masters or working towards Masters
  • Management or leadership


Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience of working with a range of multiagency partners eg police and social care
  • Experience in a senior clinical position
  • Demonstrate regular involvement within current role of and good understanding of front line safeguarding practice (Children/Adults) multiagency structures roles and responsibilities
  • Experience of working, developing and implementing processes to monitor and measure a range of assurance systems


Desirable

  • Experience of delivering safeguarding supervision

  • Knowledge of values and principles underpinning Safeguarding
  • Knowledge of legal frameworks and its relationship with Safeguarding adults
