Are you a Speech & Language Therapist looking for an opportunity to further develop your skills as part of a dynamic and supportive SLT team, on the beautiful Isle of Wight, situated a few miles off the English South Coast?

This role requires a flexible and innovative Speech & Language Therapist to work within a dedicated Children's SLT team and is committed to supporting children and families with communication difficulties. As a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist you would be required to provide intervention and support to children with a range of communication difficulties. You would assess, diagnose, plan, deliver and implement appropriate support to meet the identified clinical needs of the child within all their contexts. You would work collaboratively with and provide training, mentoring, and coaching to parents, carers, education colleagues as well as other professionals, ensuring a well-co-ordinated and effective speech and language provision for the children and their families.

Main duties of the job

To work as a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist for paediatrics in a range of settings in the community e.g. homes, school settings, early years settings, family Centres.

Provide a high quality standard of care for children in an environment conducive to learning for all staff.

To act at all times in the best interests of children and their families.

To work as an autonomous practitioner providing specialist assessment, diagnosis and management to paediatrics with communication disorders, within the context of the paediatric Speech and Language Therapy team.

To work collaboratively with colleagues ensuring multi-disciplinary care planning and intervention.

To contribute in a timely fashion to the process of assessment and review for EHCP (Education Healthcare Plan) of SEN, Continuing NHS Funded Care, providing specialist reports and attending multidisciplinary meetings as required.

To deliver effective training programmes to parents/carers and Health and Social care colleagues within area of specialism.

To contribute to supervision and training of less experienced Speech and Language Therapists and students.

To maintain local and national standards with regards to maintaining record keeping, activity data, and caseload management.

Qualifications

Essential

  • To hold relevant degree or equivalent, to be registered with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council), Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and maintain up to date registration
  • Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses as identified by service lead


Experience

Essential

  • Specialist knowledge of assessments and interventions for client group
  • Knowledge of national and local policies and procedures relevant to client group and role
  • Experience of developing and delivering training
  • Experience of working as part of a Speech and Language Therapy team and multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of managing own caseload and to work effectively with a range of client groups
