Dermatology CNS for skin cancer (1.0 WTE - Full time position)
The St John's Institute of Dermatology at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation trust has a long history in providing specialised Skin Cancer care for patients diagnosed with skin cancer. An exciting opportunity has arisen within our friendly dermatology skin cancer services at Guys and St Thomas Hospital. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist (band 7) who is interested and willing to join our well-established team, working with the dermatology clinicians in a new role to support the new tele dermatology services with face to face follow ups.
The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the team to ensure that patients receive support during their cancer treatment. The appointee will undertake general dermatology and urgent skin clinics.
The post holder will work with a team of skin cancer professionals providing support, care and education to patients with skin cancer. You will be responsible for supporting patients through their diagnosis and treatment facilitating their care pathway. You will also act as a key worker for patients and work with the multidisciplinary teams involved in their care. The post holder must also have a willingness to work towards Nurse prescribing qualification. Leadership course is essential.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for:
- Managing a caseload of patients with a skin cancer diagnosis undergoing treatment, acting as an experienced and autonomous practitioner.
- Managing a caseload of patients requiring tele dermatology follow ups
- Delivering teaching, mentoring assessing, including the supervision of others in the clinical setting
- Participating in quality improvements.
- Providing support, education and advocacy for patient.
- Delivering patient information and undertaking care planning
- Providing leadership and innovation.
- Providing psychological support, carrying out Holistic Need Assessments (HNA) and demonstrating knowledge of survivorship initiatives.

- To work autonomously, managing a caseload of patients within thespecialty whilst working as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering individualised and personalised direct patient care
- Be responsible for assessing and recognising emergencies in thespeciality. To interpret information and take appropriate action and to lead others to do the same.
