Dietitian (XR05)

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic dietitian, with excellent communication and team working skills to join our friendly and welcoming renal dietetic team, as a full-time Band 5 dietitian, with automatic progression to a Band 6 once competencies have been achieved.
We will support you to develop the knowledge and skills required to provide care to patients with acute and chronic kidney disease.
As part of you professional and personal development, you form part of the Band 5 support group, allowing you to work with dietitians form other teams and specialities and will be encouraged to complete the preceptorship program during your first year of work.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will provide dietetic care to patients with acute and chronic kidney disease, in the acute inpatient service and develop theskills and knowledge to provide outpatient care in the low clearance, haemodialysis, and transplant service. You will provide evidenced based advice to patients and carers on the provision of nutrition support and therapeutic diets for patients at all stages of kidney disease. You will work with patients to develop treatment plans, which incorporate patient-centred goals, whilst ensuring safe and acceptable biochemical parameters. You will work collaboratively as a key member of the MDT, ensuring the best care of our patients and will be involved in education of healthcare professionals.
You will be actively involved in the development, implementation, and audit of patient care practices as part of Clinical Governance, have opportunities to develop patient information and to participate in the teaching and development of our dietetic learners.

To provide part of a professional Nutrition and Dietetic care service, which
includes advice to in-patients, out-patients, all healthcare staff and participation in the training of student Dietitians.
To work within the Dietetic Service providing effective interventions to specific clinical areas.
To provide a patient focussed service using Dietetic core skills.
The post holder will be professional accountable to the HCPC and accountable contractually to their employer and to the law for their actions.
The post holder will:
1 Manage own case load to a level agreed with supervisor/line manager.
2 Be involved in the provision of education and training to healthcare staff, patients, care providers and students.
3 Liaise with the multidisciplinary care team to provide integrated dietetic care.
4 Be an active member of the out of hours service
