We have an exciting opportunity within Bolton's 0-19/ 25 Integrated and Well-being service, Public Health Nursing servicefor the training of Specialist Community Public Health Nurses(SCPHN) within School Nursing.
You will become proficient in the field of public healthnursing. The primary aim is toimprove health outcomes and reduce health inequalities for our Bolton families,parentsand children.
As a student SCPHN - SN you will gain invaluable evidenced based experience supporting young people, families and communities including within early intervention and safeguarding.
You will gain important skills to meet the competencies for specialist practice by working alongside, school nurses, public health nurses and the wider team.
You will be allocated a Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisor/s within practice to support you during the training. These practitioners work closely with the Academic Institute to ensure your success.
As a result of successful completion of the course you will be registered on Part 3 of the NMC register and be to apply for the role of a Band 6 School Nurse.
Interviews will be held on 24/09/2024
Main duties of the job
The training is a twelve-month full time course combining both study and clinical learning within university and practice placements. The course has to be undertaken at level 7 study at the University of Bolton. As the course is via the apprenticeship route applicants will be required to have 120 academic credits at degree level-level 6 study. This could include nursing and professional study.
We are looking for a colleague with effective communication skills to engage and empower children, young people and families. This will include collaborating with families and relevant professionals whilst being professional and reflecting the NMC Code of Conduct.
You will also be a reliable team player that uses problem solving approaches as these are aligned to community working and public health nursing.

Your contract will be a fixed term twelve-month full time contract to undertake the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing PGDIP Apprenticeship School Nursing.
Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to offer training for the role of Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nurse) to start full time on 20th January 2025. This is a 12-month programme and you will gain practice experience working in an integrated 0-19/25 neighbourhood team, in addition to your academic study with the University of Bolton. You will be supported in practice by a practice supervisor and practice assessor.This vacancy is only available for applicants who already hold a current nursing or midwifery qualification with NMC registration.
Please note that an Enhanced DBS will be required.
