Following a review of the Health Boards Operational Structure we have two exciting new Service Director posts leading within our new Clinical Care Group structure. Please state within your supporting statement which post you would be applying for:
These two posts are key senior operational leadership posts in the new structure providing managerial leadership as part of a triumvirate within the Clinical Care Group working collaboratively across the health and social care system to support the delivery of high quality, sustainable, and kind person centred care.
Reporting on a daily basis to the Deputy Chief Operating Officer and Accountable to the Chief Operating Officer, the successful candidates will have experience of operational management and leadership previously, as well as a proven track record of improving quality, patient experience and performance whilst ensuring value for money. You will be a skilled communicator, that is able to build relationships to lead and deliver change in line with the Health Boards strategic plan.

Main duties of the job
As a Clinical Care Group Service Director, you will be responsible for the strategic development and delivery of services required to ensure delivery of all the Health Board's Service, Financial, Performance and Improvement Plans, shaping the vision of the local Health Economy through collaborative working with partner organisations.
You will be required to interpret and implement local and national policy and strategy in order to establish goals and standards to inform local policy development across the Clinical Care Group.
The person is a very senior person in the organisation and is expected to use their own initiative and act independently. They will provide leadership, strategic and professional management for staff and resources and ensure the development and delivery of efficient and effective services demonstrating value for money whilst improving quality and ensuring safety.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest
Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire
47 general practices (6 of which are managed practices), 45 dental practices (including 4 orthodontic), 96 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential
- Educated to masters level or equivalent.
- Postgraduate management diploma qualification or equivalent experience.
- Project/Programme management qualification.
- Current and extensive knowledge of the public sector/NHS.
- Extensive knowledge over a range of disciplines eg Clinical, research, HR, finance, Governance, underpinned by specialist courses or equivalent experience.
- In depth professional specialist knowledge of a number of disciplines acquired through training and experience over a significant period.
- Knowledge of Welsh Government and health board principles and standards of governance.
- Knowledge of NHS, Welsh Government, Health Board strategies, policies and plans.
