Position Available: Patient Blood Management Practitioner
Contract: 37.5 hours per week, 15-month fixed-term (Secondment)
Location: UCLH Foundation Trust, Hospital Transfusion Team
An exciting opportunity has opened for a Patient Blood Management Practitioner to join the Hospital Transfusion Team at UCLH Foundation Trust. This is a 15-month fixed-term position, ideal for a dynamic, experienced nurse with substantial post-registration experience in blood and blood product transfusion within a clinical setting. This role is particularly suitable for those seeking a secondment.
We are seeking a flexible, confident individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with staff at all levels involved in thetransfusion process across the Trust. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
This vacancy has been advertised in accordance with the new NHS pay rate which will take effect from autumn 2024. Please note if your employment starts before the 24/25 pay scales are implemented you will be paid under the 23/24 pay scales and any backpay will be adjusted accordingly. Main duties of the job
This role has a Trust-wide remit, including transfusion education and training for clinical staff, risk management, and clinical audit. You will play a crucial role in promoting the optimal use of blood and blood products and advocating for alternatives to transfusion.
Working closely with the Transfusion Practitioners, you will help raise awareness of the current regulatory and statutory requirements affecting transfusion practices and support the implementation of measures to ensure compliance. Relevant experience is essential.
