The vacant post is for a Band 6 Specialist Podiatrist based mainly in community but also working as a core member of the hospital based Diabetes Podiatry Service .The service would also consider applications from New Graduate or Band 5 Podiatrists with an interest in the Acute Diabetic Foot as a Band 5 development post progressing to Band 6
Main duties of the job
The Specialist Podiatrist role will include the assessment of new patients against an agreed eligibility matrix and then the planning of future podiatric care for patients eligible for on-going NHS treatment or the discharge from the service for those who do meet the criteria.
The clinician will provide a range podiatry treatment, including wound care for diabetic and non-diabetic ulceration, across the Rotherham area covering Rotherham Hospital, Community Health Centre site, community clinics, and domiciliary visits for housebound patients.
The successful applicant will join the nail surgery clinic rota
The Diabetes Podiatry Service duties include the management of Active Diabetic Foot problems, rotation on the MDT Diabetic Foot Clinic, and a limited amount of in-patient care.
The Band 6 duties include delivering education training sessions to other professional staff and patient groups when required, and communication with other services such as: Community Nurse Teams, GP, and also Accident and Emergency/ SDEC when patients need to be admitted.
