An exciting opportunity has arisen for a trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join a friendly and dynamic team within the Urology department at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual with significant acute care experience to join a new team within the department.

We would like to hear from experienced registered healthcare professionals who already hold level 7 modules/qualifications with the ability to APEL in to the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice programme. This post is not suitable for those looking for a full MSc Advanced Clinical Practice or an MSc via the apprenticeship route.

The urology department at Castle Hill Hospital is a busy tertiary centre and is staffed by 8 consultants, 3 specialist registrars , 3 clinical fellows, 6 core and Foundation doctors and 10 specialist nurses. It provides a comprehensive urology service to the local population of Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire and provides specialist cancer surgery to a much wider geographical area including North Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire. Ward 15 at Castle Hill is a dedicated urology ward with an adjacent day procedures unit where outpatient cystoscopies, urodynamics, bladder instillations and lithotripsy take place. There is also a smaller urological acute assessment unit on ward 12 where emergency cases are assessed and managed by a dedicated team. Inpatient and day case surgery take place on the Castle Hill site.

Main duties of the job

Supported by the Trust, you will develop your knowledge and skills in the management of a wide array of both Urology and medical presentations and develop a high level of autonomy. You will also be required to complete your MSc in Advanced Practice alongside core and specialty competencies relevant to the role. Throughout your training, you will have the opportunity for personal development in the four pillars of advanced practice.

Upon successful completion of the training programme as a Qualified ACP you will progress to AFC Band 8a.

The role will encompass the skills of assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment within an agreed scope of practice. You will (under supervision of a senior clinician), assist in the safe assessment, treatment, referral and discharge of patients in their designated directorate.

If you are looking for a challenging yet rewarding position we would welcome your application. We are therefore looking for individuals who have significant post-qualifying experience and have the drive, ambition and positivity to make this role succeed.
