We are an integrated team of Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and assistantsprovided by an Outstanding Trust and committed to supporting children and young people with communication needsacross East Sussex.

One of our posts is in our Neighbourhood Team working with early years children and children in mainstream schools. You may be interested in developing your skills working with complex speech sound disorder, selective mutism orstammering.

One of our posts is in our Integrated Care Team working with early years children with complex physical disability and in special schools. As a Band 6 you will have access to further specialist training in your area of developing expertiseincluding dysphagia training.

We offer excellent supervision and development opportunities and have a strong commitment to training and development with robust supervision and shadowing opportunities across the service.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for managing a complex and specialist clinical caseload and to act as a specialist resource to theChildren's Therapies team and other professionals and agenciesTo support the work of SEND including completion of education, health and care needs assessments and occasionalinvolvement in SENDIST appeal hearings as an expert witnessTo be responsible for the supervision of identified staff within the team in collaboration with the Head of Service,Operational Manager and Team Co-ordinator.To contribute to the wider work of the team including initial assessment clinics, referral triage and Therapy One Point.To provide leadership to the Team in collaboration with other clinical Lead colleagues.To be responsible for ensuring the team provides a high quality and cost-effective clinical service to CYP and their familiesin collaboration with the Head of Service, Operational Manager and Team Co-ordinator.To be responsible for ensuring that all team members are working to agreed care pathways.To report to and advise the Head of Service and/or Operational Manager of the teams' development within a specialistclinical area to ensure it is in line with the organisation's business objectives.

Additional Working Pattern: 7.5 hours per day/ 5 days per week

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered health care professional (HCPC registration) Health related degree and evidence of relevant post graduate development at Level 6 Evidence of Specialist qualifications relevant to area of practice evidenced through self-learning and/ or attendance at short courses. Relevant learning for this post includes pre-verbal communication support e.g. AAC, intensive interaction, language and speech therapeutic approaches, e.g. nuffield, colourful semantics, dysfluency, selective mutism.


Desirable

  • PRINCE 2 or equiv project management training PTLLS/DTLLS, PGCE or Certificate in Education Management or supervisory qualification or experience of study Working towards Master level study


Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in area of practice Practical experience in managing health related projects/complex caseloads Supporting others (mentor / educator / supervisor ) experience


Desirable

  • Experience of leading and managing teams Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of IT packages


Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of National Service Frameworks and NICE guidance to relevant to care setting and its application across health care services Evidence of continued relevant professional development and implementation in practice within the last 12 months
