Physiotherapy Team Lead - Paediatrics

We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity to come and join our team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. We are looking to employ a highly skilled, forward thinking, dynamic individual as Paediatric Physiotherapy Team Lead.

The Children's Physiotherapy Team is based at Dingley Child Development Centre (Reading University Whiteknights Campus) and provides inpatient and outpatient care at Dingley CDC, Royal Berkshire Hospital and other Trust sites as required. We are a friendly and forward-thinking team and we work closely with our multidisciplinary colleagues within the CDC and at RBH to deliver joined-up care for our children, young people and families.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide clinical leadership and be responsible for the operational management of Physiotherapists working in Paediatrics at Dingley Child Development Centre, on the Paediatric wards and in clinics at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, and at the Trust's children's hydrotherapy setting.
  • To provide highly specialised Physiotherapy knowledge and skills to a variety of paediatric cases. Be responsible for the assessment and management of your own complex clinical caseload working as an autonomous practitioner.
  • To ensure a high quality, effective and efficient physiotherapy service, contributing to planning and policy development in the physiotherapy department.
  • To support the Professional Lead of Physiotherapy in the development of the service through clinical initiatives, modernisation projects and quality initiatives.
  • To act as the lead clinical representative on agreed clinical and service development groups and boards.
  • To provide expert training, advice and clinical education to service providers, service users and service commissioners.
  • To act as clinical lead for Paediatrics, alongside the Paediatric Occupational Therapy Team Lead, within the Therapies service at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
  • To deputise for the Professional Lead of Physiotherapy as required.
  • To work alongside the Occupational Therapy Team Lead for Paediatrics in developing and delivering the children's therapy service.

Person Specification

Education

Essential

  • To have a degree or other recognised qualification in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC Registered
  • Extensive post-graduate training
  • Knowledge of SEND legislation & its application within healthcare


Desirable

  • Evidence of further education in paediatrics
  • Clinical Leadership training or equivalent
  • Neurology injecting skills


Experience

Essential

  • Extensive post graduate experience in Paediatrics
  • Clinical leadership experience at a senior level
  • Experience of teaching and presenting to other staff
  • Experience of supervising and developing other staff and students
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary manner


Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in a Team Lead role
  • Previous experience of neurodisability
  • Experience of assessing gait
  • Previous experience of working in neuro-orthopaedics and Ponseti clinic


Skills

Essential

  • IT skills, including word processing and e-mail
  • Understanding of current NHS issues and structure
