Named Nurse
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic individual with strong leadership skills, who has sound knowledge of the safeguarding children's agenda to join our Safeguarding Children team at Whittington Healthcare Trust as a Named Nurse. We are passionate about improving outcomes for children and families and provide high quality safeguarding support for all practitioners across the organisation using a 'Think Family' approach whilst also working closely with our Multi Agency Partners to ensure the Trust meets all statutory obligations. The post holder will be responsible for line managing a team of Safeguarding Advisors and to oversee the operational delivery of the national children's safeguarding agenda and contribute to the Trusts wider safeguarding priorities.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work collaboratively with the Safeguarding Children and adults teams, Named and Designated Doctors, Designated Nurse and other agencies to ensure that the organisation meets its safeguarding children responsibilities and that children are effectively safeguarded.
The post holder will provide expert advice, support, training and safeguarding children supervision to health staff across the organisation.
The post is based in Haringey in the middle of North Central London which is home to a population of around 265.000 people. Haringey is a busy vibrant borough and has an ethnically diverse population with pockets of high social deprivation and need. The post holder will be expected to work proactively with multiagency partners and develop staff to do the same. The post holder will be expected to provide professional advice and support to health professionals and to support the Trusts planning, facilitation and evaluation of policies, safeguarding assurance and monitoring systems.

POST SUMMARYTo support the Head of Safeguarding Children in providing senior management leadership in the arrangements and services for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children across Whittington Health.To be responsible for and line management of the safeguarding children nurse advisors and paediatric liaison nurses and MASH Health Advisors.To be able to provide expert support and advice on individual cases as necessary.To provide expert advice and support to staff within Whittington Health on safeguarding issues including complex cases.To manage the coordination and preparation of case reviews, audits, policies and supporting documents as required on behalf of the Trust and the Local Safeguarding Partnership.To attend multi-disciplinary and multi-agency meetings as appropriate.To oversee the provision of child protection supervision for Health Visitors and School Nurses, Team Leaders and other allied health professionals in relation to their work with children in need and those subject to a Child Protection Plan (Community).Works with the safeguarding/child protection team and partners in other agencies to conduct safeguarding training needs analysis, and to commission, plan, design, deliver and evaluate single and inter-agency training and teaching for staff in the organisations covered.To identify any practice areas or systems which could place children at risk.To work with relevant service staff to reduce the level of risk and inform the Head of Safeguarding Children, Chief Nurse and the Whittington Health Safeguarding Committee of such risks.To participate in the review of the death of adults with dependent children where Domestic Violence is a factor in the death and contribute to recommendations where changes in policy and practice are indicated to promote safer practice.
