An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team to support the delivery of interesting, varied and impactful consultancy work. You will contribute to the provision of high quality organisational consultancy within, and external to, the organisation across the matrix of services offered by Slam Partners. Key expectations of the role include:
  • Working to a high standard to both contribute and independently manage other consultancy projects both internal and external to SLaM
  • Working in collaboration with colleagues within Slam Partners and the wider Quality Centre to support continuous improvement to the experiences of staff and of people using health and social services

We are looking for an individual with a wide portfolio of organisational development skills and experience that will add value and enhance the work of our team.

Main duties of the job

Slam Partners are a team of improvement experts, experienced organisational consultants and coaches. The team works both internally and externally with individuals, teams and services, within and across organisations to help get the results needed to develop and deliver quality care.The work of the teamis underpinned by evidence-based practice, theories and principles to enable services, teams and individuals to work at their best to deliver safe and effective care and outcomes that matter to patients, families and carers.

The teamworks within the Quality Centrewith other functions and provides organisational development services and interventions, which include:
  • consultancy
  • coaching
  • leadership and other skills development
  • conflict resolution and mediation


About us

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) provide the widest range of NHS mental health services in the UK as well as substance misuse services for people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. We work closely with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN), King's College London and are part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre. There are very few organisations in the world that have such wide-ranging capabilities working with mental illness. Our scope is unique because it is built on three major foundations: care and treatment, science and research, and training.

SLaM employ around 6000 staff and serve a local population of 1.3 million people. We have more than 230 services including inpatient wards, outpatient and community services. Currently, provide inpatient care for approximately 5,300 people each year and treat more than 45,000 patients in the community in Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark as well as substance misuse services for residents of Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work as a member of Slam Partners to ensure all work contributes to the work plan and improves experiences of people using health and social services
  • Provide effective consultancy services, within and external to SLaM
  • Work to a high standard to deliver a range of interventions, such as development programmes, conflict resolution interventions, coaching and consultancy
  • Work in collaboration with colleagues within Slam Partners and the wider Quality Centre to support continuous improvement endeavours
  • Independently manage medium risk consultancy projects and ensure work is delivered within the agreed financial and human resources, meeting all governance requirements.


Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent demonstrable experience


Desirable

  • Relevant Masters level or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Accredited coach training qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of having worked in an organisational development capacity
  • Leading/managing change
  • Coaching (this includes the facilitation of coaching/ action learning sets)


Knowledge

Essential

  • Theories and/or best-practice underpinning organisational development and change
  • Good understanding and practical integration of the model of process consultancy
  • Tools and techniques that can be used in organisational development and change
  • Delivery, and evaluation, of training or learning interventions
  • Ability to effectively manage difficult and challenging relationships, utilising a range of influencing, negotiating, facilitating and conflict resolution skills


Desirable

  • Awareness of a quality improvement approach
