An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior finance manager to lead the Financial Planning & Analysis team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.The Head of Strategic Financial Planning will be responsible for liaising with commissioners, colleagues across the Trust and the System to shape the Trust's annual operating plan and longer-term financial plans, providing insight to the Trust Board and other stakeholders to support decision-making on allocation of resources and long-term financial sustainability.The right candidate will have experience of financial management in the health service, including a good understanding of health contract payment terms, will be able to build effective relationships across multiple disciplines and to form sound judgements on risk and sensitivity where there is uncertain or conflicting information.Interviews will be in person on 25th September at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.To arrange an informal discussion with Andrea Wright (Associate Director of Finance) please contact Davina Huyton (davina.huyton@nhs.net)
Main duties of the job
The Head of Strategic Financial Planning will be responsible for the management and performance of the Financial Planning and Analysis function of the Trust, ensuring that Trust annual operating plan and longer-term plans and forecasts support the delivery of Trust objectives and are triangulated with operational budgets and reserves, demand and capacity and workforce plans. The post holder will liaise with colleagues across the Trust, ICS and peninsula to identify appropriate assumptions, strategies and requirements to deliver financial sustainability. The post holder will support in delivering a robust financial control environment, through the application of budgetary controls, management of health contracts and Trustwide budgets and reserves. The post holder will seek to limit the Trust's exposure to financial risks and maximise financial performance through the provision of clear and timely analysis to decision-makers and liaison with Trust commissioners and service leads.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
