We are currently recruiting for a Safeguarding Facilitator within our Specialist Perinatal Services. The successful applicant will join a team of committed staff, to lead on the continued development of safeguarding practice within perinatal services.

The Specialist Perinatal Serviceprovides multi-disciplinary specialised perinatal care to women and their families living within the Birmingham and Solihull, throughout pregnancy and up to a year post birth. The NHS Long Term Plan (LTP) will see perinatal services expanding its remit to seeing approximately 10% of the population of births, seeing women for up to 2 years postnatally, expanding its offer to partners of women who have given birth, and providing an increasingly comprehensive range of therapies to women and their families.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work alongside our multidisciplinary teams and will be responsible for the continued development of safeguarding practice within perinatal services.

This role will include the provision of safeguarding advice and support, training and safeguarding supervision across each team in perinatal services. Whilst working within the Perinatal Service, the post holder will be linked to the BSMHFT Safeguarding Team via supervision and attendance at monthly safeguarding team meetings.

  • Qualification in Teaching, Training and Supervision
Knowledge and Experience Essential
  • Significant experience of working in the field of safeguarding and domestic abuse
  • Experience and understanding of perinatal mental health
  • Experience of multi-agency working
Desirable
  • Experience at Band 7 or equivalent level.
Skills Essential
  • Proven presentation and training skills
  • Supervision skills
