The NNUH are recruiting for a Manual Handling Co Ordinator/Trainer to deliver training including patient and non-patient manual handling to new and existing colleagues within the Trust. This will also involve ad-hoc training sessions for other topics as when the need arises to support the health and safety team.
Reporting to the Health and Safety Lead Advisor, you will be responsible for training our staff to a high standard, to ensure they can safely go out into practice. The process for patient manual handling training would entail a six-hour induction session with two-hour refresher sessions, therefore strong communication and delivery skills of the use of equipment such as beds, hoists are essential. You will play a crucial role in the training of staff in the interest of best patient care.
The successful candidate ideally to be in possession of a recognised qualification in manual handling training, specifically with regards to patient handling. Experience of training development and delivery is essential to the role, ideally in an acute health care setting. Experience of clinical care is a significant advantage to this post.
The role may also require at times to be completed outside normal working hours such as evenings and weekends.
Main duties of the job
Moving and Handling is a key part of the working day for most employees within the health and social care setting, from patient handling which includes supporting complex patients, moving equipment, supplies and if not done safely, can cause serious injury to both patients and staff. Providing other training syllabus such as e.g. Prevention Management and Aggression, Fit Testing may also be required within the role when the need arises.
To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH's 'PRIDE' values of People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence and demonstrate behaviours that support and encourage an inclusive culture.
