We wish to recruit two occupational therapists to join our dynamic multi-disciplinary teams that provide specialist services to children, young people and families within our mental health services.

Our CAMHS Inpatient Unit consists of two wards rated Outstanding by CQC. The Hope and Horizon Unit, based in Bury, provide general adolescent and eating disorder inpatient care and treatment for young people aged 13-18 years. Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust have been awarded Lead Provider role for the Greater Manchester CAMHS Inpatient Lead Provider Collaborative and there has never been a more exciting time to join our innovative and quality driven service.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit an Occupational Therapist who is passionate about working in CAMHS, with the ability to plan and implement individualised Occupational Therapy assessments, interventions and therapeutic groups to service users across the units.

You will work collaboratively with service users and members of the multidisciplinary team in establishing clear goals and recommendations that will assist in the recovery process whilst people are resident on the acute wards and during the transition period back into the community.

Please read the full job description and person specification for all responsibilities for this post. The main specific clinical duties and responsibilities are listed below:
  • Undertake Occupational Therapy assessment
  • Use of MOHO and associated assessment tools
  • Plan and implement individual and/or group interventions using selected and graded activity to develop the clients skills in identified areas of deficit
  • Ensure intervention is provided in a range of settings suitable to meet the needs of clients
  • Ensure ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy process in line with sound evidence based practice
  • Provide advice on issues related to activities of daily living for other professionals and carers
  • Participate in the organisation and provision of other appropriate therapeutic activities
  • Work closely with OT colleagues from other clinical settings/teams providing peer group support
  • Responsibility for the fieldwork education of designated students.
  • Participation in regular supervision with a Senior OT and peer supervision

Person Specification Education & Qualifications Essential
  • Occupational Therapy Degree
  • Registration with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC)
Experience Essential
  • Experience of applying the Occupational Therapy process with young people with acute mental health needs
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
Knowledge Essential
  • Knowledge of Occupational Therapy Process
  • Understanding of specific needs and conditions of people in an acute mental health setting
  • Knowledge of a range of interventions required to support individuals with severe and complex mental health needs
Skills & Abilities Essential
  • Recording relevant documentation to a professional standard
  • Ability to manage and prioritise own workload
  • Ability to deliver a range of evidence based interventions on both an individual and group basis
  • Ability to communicate with and develop supportive relationships with patients, carers/ families and other professionals
  • Basic level of computer literacy
