Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (RMCH) is a tertiary Children's Hospital that provides regional and supra-regional services to include most dietetic clinical paediatric specialties.

We are based in a 371 bed, purpose built hospital in the centre of Manchester, and are continuing to expand and develop our paediatric dietetic service in the largest single-site children's hospital in the UK.

Dietitians are well respected and valued members of most RMCH multi-disciplinary teams, and we provide both IP and OP services to a comprehensive range of specialtiesOur paediatric dietetic service is led by a professional paediatric dietetic lead and comprises.

4 x B8a clinical specialist / paediatric dietetic team leads

1 x ACP in ketogenic diet therapies

28 x B7 paediatric dietitians

9 x B5-6 paediatric dietitians

4 x paediatric dietetic assistant and an apprentice dietitian

Special Feeds Unit supervisors and assistants

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 7 experienced paediatric dietitian to join our RMCH dietetic team. We can accommodate either a full time or 2 part time posts to join our established renal and / critical care dietetic teams

To meet the person specification to be considered for the post you should.

Possess a comprehensive range of skills, expertise and CPD in paediatric nutrition support including experience working with acute and chronic patients and their families with renal disease and intensive care caseloads.

be competent to work as an autonomous paediatric dietitian within professional practice guidelines and a structured supervision framework and delivering training to others.

be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and able to provide strong clinical leadership to the service and be able to line manage and support junior staff and students,

have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with good time management to be able to prioritize your work to meet deadlines in an often fast-paced pressured environment.

Educational / Qualifications / Registration

Essential

  • oRegistration via Healthcare Professions Council
  • oEvidence of Advanced / masters level post graduate training in paediatric dietetics e.g masters level BDA paediatric modules , PENG course ,


Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • oComprehensive clinical dietetic experience in an acute paediatric NHS hospital setting
  • oPrevious knowledge and experience in nutrition support and dietetic management of children in a critical care /renal setting
  • oSpecialist knowledge of dietetic assessment and treatment techniques
  • oEvidence of on-going Continual Professional Development in paediatric dietetics
  • oExperience of and commitment to interdisciplinary team working
  • oExperience of supervision of students and assistants
  • oEvidence of contribution to clinical education and in-service training of less experienced staff/students and assistants
  • oUnderstanding of clinical effectiveness and its implications for services including experience of quality issues, audit and evidence-based practice and patient experience initiatives
  • oDelivered MDT paediatric dietetic training both internally and externally
