We are looking for a qualified, experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated ACP to complement our established team of Advanced Clinical Practitioners in the Urgent Treatment Centre, co-located in the Emergency department at Colchester Hospital. This exciting opportunity facilitates working within the four pillars of advanced practice: - education, clinical practice, leadership and research.

The Urgent Treatment Centre is open 0700-Midnight, 7 days a week, including weekends and Bank Holidays and the successful candidate will be required to work shifts covering these hours.

The successful candidate will also be assigned a team of experienced and developing Practitioners to lead and to support their development

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be motivated and engaged to provide a high standard of safe and quality care whilst providing a senior presence in the department. Candidates who are successfully shortlisted will be required to be interviewed and complete a presentation, details will be provided.

MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB:

The Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) will ideally be clinically experienced within the field of urgent unscheduled care. The post will require you to work as an autonomous practitioner to appropriately assess, examine, investigate and treat patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions at an advanced level. The ACP will collaborate with senior clinical leads, medical personnel and the wider MDT as appropriate to the patient's condition. The ACP is accountable for the total episode of care.

The successful candidate will be part of the senior clinical team and will be required to cover the co-ordinator role and also navigation and Care at the Door directly at the Front Door.

The ACP will contribute to service development. They will also provide appropriate leadership to their designated team .Ensure the maintenance of clinical excellence, and support the provision of the highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement. The ACP will promote and facilitate evidence-based practice, clinical audit and research within the department.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Proven post registration experience in relevant clinical setting
  • Detailed knowledge of current best practice in relevant clinical area
  • Documented evidence of continuing professional development
  • Direct supervision and Line Management of staff and Students
  • Willingness to undertake and get involved with audit processes


Desirable

  • Clinical expertise relevant to the area of emergency medicine
  • Portfolio of evidence showing achievements in practice/speciality
  • oDemonstrates ability and knowledge on how to undertake audit and feedback to clinicians


Qualifications

Essential

  • First level registered nurse/allied Health Professional currently working in a senior clinical role
  • MSc Advanced Clinical Practice
  • NMC approved mentor preparation course or equivalent.


Desirable

  • Evidence of research/audit


Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Knowledge of the current professional NHS issues contributing to Service Development
  • Detailed knowledge of the principles of clinical governance and its application
  • Documented evidence of completion of generic advanced practice competencies and a defined range of speciality competencies.
  • Effective written and oral communication/listening skills
  • Ability to work autonomously, plan, organise, prioritise and delegate appropriate interventions to support staff


Desirable

  • Leadership skills/worked at a senior level within a clinical area
  • Previously used SystmOne
