Applications are invited for a new Specialist grade post, based at Leighton Hospital, Crewe. The successful candidate will be a clinical expert in Care of the Elderly and be expected to deliver appropriate subspecialty care for the elderly population of Mid Cheshire.
The post holder will be a senior non-Consultant member of the Care of the Elderly and Frailty Service. Working autonomously, this Specialist grade doctor will take responsibility for the patients under their care and be able to manage a full range of presentations within the Service.
The post is offered on a full time, or job share basis, the job plan being intended for a full time
appointment with an opportunity to modify this if the post is offered on any other basis.
The successful applicant must have full registration with the GMC and continue to hold a Licence to Practise.
A proposed interview date is the 30th September 2024 - To be confirmed.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will undertake independent outpatient clinics, employing the necessary clinical decision skills to formulate appropriate management plans for the patients under their care. In addition, the appointee will perform subspecialty sessions unsupervised.
Although working autonomously, the post holder will have the necessary understanding of their own limits and seek help when required. They will be responsible for adhering to the generic capabilities' framework outlined nationally for the Specialist grade.

Qualifications

- MRCP or equivalent
- Full registration with the General Medical Council and a Licence to Practice Primary Medical Degree
- Shall have completed a minimum of 12 years' medical work (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification of which a minimum of six years should have been in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grades. Equivalent years' experience in a relevant specialty from other medical grades including from overseas will also be accepted.
