Job Details

We are looking for an outstanding Acting Team Leader for Yorkshire Supported Living.

We provide a supported living service in West Yorkshire at four different services in Huddersfield. The services provide specialist support for adults with learning disabilities, who may have behaviours that challenge and associated complex needs within their own accommodation.

Each accommodation offers individuals the opportunity to hold their own tenancy agreement with a Registered Housing Provider. Individuals who are supported in this service may have previously been detained within a hospital setting and are ready for a step down placement within their local community. We provide specialist input and risk assessment to manage and reduce high risk or offending behaviour for individuals stepping down from secure, forensic or long-stay settings.

Main duties of the job
Your Day-to-Day...
  • To act as buddy to new Support Workers
  • Ensure that the role and responsibilities of the Support Worker is full understood and demonstrated by all support staff.
  • Act as a Role Model with professional behaviour, respecting residents and confidentiality, developing other Staff, sharing knowledge and skills, and being supportive when there are crises or incidents.
  • Responsibility for ensuring that new initiatives, changes in policy and procedure are cascaded to support workers, implemented and consistently applied on the ward to agreed standards and timescales.

We're looking for people who have:
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills and the ability to be a good team player
  • Sensitive and intuitive with the energy required to provide a trusting, stimulating & varied environment
  • Helping to empower & support service user independence.
  • Flexible to work 12 hour shift patterns on a rota basis including weekends

NVQ level 2 or equivalent in a relevant care setting is preferable but not essential.
