A fully skilled maintenance craftsperson to undertake core building/decorating/carpenter joiner and general building craft duties and associated works for the Trust and its outside partner customers. Also undertake non-core multi skilled duties in line with training and competency requirements. Maintains building services and equipment at a range of properties consisting of Hospitals, GP surgeries, Health Centres, Resource Centres, Offices etc.

(Additional Recruitment & Retention Payment of 15% of Basic salary applicable to position)

Main duties of the job

1. Undertake a range of building/decorating/carpenter joiner and general building craft duties, work procedures for installation, testing and validation, repair and routine maintenance of new, refurbished and existing equipment or fabric whilst at all times observing all relevant Health and Safety guidelines and regulations.

2. Undertake inspection, maintenance and repair on fire doors and other specialist door sets/equipment such as access control locks, anti-barricade doors, anti-ligature ironmongery and anti-ligature/anti-vandal windows for which some additional training will be provided.

3. Undertake other multi skilling duties where skills, abilities and competence/training are appropriate for such and has been approved by supervisors such as but not limited to - fire compartmentation inspections, Asbestos check/inspection, unblocking drains etc.

4. Undertake appointed Competent Person (CP) roles after appointment by the trusts Authorised Person (AP) as required and in accordance with HTM's for which additional training will be provided.

5. Install, maintain, fault find, test and validate and problem solve complex equipment/systems/plant in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, relevant H& S regulations, Approved Codes of Practice (ACOP's), Hospital Technical Memorandums (HTM's) British Standards etc. and in the most efficient manner

Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential

  • Achieved accreditation through a 4 year training course in relevant field or be able to demonstrate proven practical knowledge through experience
  • Possess relevant qualification i.e. City & Guilds, NVQ 3 or other equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline or be able to demonstrate proven practical knowledge through experience
  • Experience of working in a similar role or discipline
  • Ability to travel between sites


Desirable

  • Experience of working in the NHS
  • Relevant professional membership(s)


EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • An appreciation of technological advances in the field of Estates
  • Awareness of Health and Safety issues applicable to role
  • Current driving licence
  • Experience and ability to undertake a wide range of related trade maintenance installation and repairs
  • Experience of activities within the property maintenance field
  • Experience of using computerised maintenance systems
  • Experience, understanding and appreciation of other trades performed within Estates
  • Understanding an appreciation of risk assessments applicable to the role

  • Time served in a relevant discipline
